Ashton made his professional debut age 9 as ‘Nigel’ in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical for Netflix. After the success of the film, Ashton has spent the last 4 years with the musical, going on to play ‘Bruce’ in the West End and the international tour, performing in amazing venues in China, Singapore, India and Thailand. He recently performed in Battersea Park with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in A Night at the Musicals. Ashton is so excited to be joining the cast of MJ and would like to thank his family and agent Scarlett & Co for their support.

Asher loves playing basketball with his brother and football at school with his friends. After seeing MJ in March 2024, he told his mum and dad that he would be on that stage one day and would like to thank them for always believing in him. Lynn is the first woman in history to win two Pulitzer Prizes for Drama. Her plays have been produced widely in the United States and throughout the world. Christopher Wheeldon

Director & Choreographer

Christopher trained at The Royal Ballet School, he joined New York City Ballet in 1993 and was named first Resident Choreographer. Christopher has created productions for The Royal Ballet and major ballet companies worldwide. He has choreographed for opera, film and television and is an Olivier Award winner for his ballets Aeternum and Polyphonia. In 2014, Mr. Wheeldon directed and choreographed the musical version of An American in Paris, which had productions in Paris, New York, London and toured extensively through America, China, Japan and Australia. Most recently he directed and choreographed MJ. They each received four Tony Awards, earning him Best Choreography for each. The latter is currently on Broadway, touring in America, in Hamburg and Sydney. Christopher thanks his husband, Ross Rayburn, for his love, support and quiet guidance during the making of MJ.
